![]() (Papua Society Consortium for Humanity) Natural disasters is something that can not be avoided, but the risk of damage can be reduced if we know how to minimize it Indonesia formed as a part of the "pacific ring of fire" with at least 128 active volcanoes and eruptions of varying degrees which occur with relative frequency. Human induced disassters including social conflict and environmental disasters related to mining, logging, and hazardouz materials are also prevalent in Indonesia. Nabire, one of regency that is located at the northern part of New Guinea has a relatively high vulnerability, surrounded by more than 92 earthquake points and recorded in 2004, earthquake with magnitude 6.8 on the Richter scale, duration of more than 1 minute was destroying infrastructure and loss of life. Concerns about public unpreparedness in the face of disaster, we finally have to choose the legal way in a serious organization to provide disaster education to vulnerable communities. conservation is one of our concerns is also a priority to be addressed in this organization in addition to disaster as the main priority. In cooperation with Papua Progress, one of the conservation-based ngo, we also perform an active step in the campaign community-based conservation, by providing information, education on coastal communities. Now, supported by Oxfam, we start to begin a new program named "Building Resilience". This program focusing on ensuring consolidation and scaleability through partnership and collaboration with communities, government, stakeholders and other programmes. The capacity building at the community, CSO partners and government level will aim to transfer of technology, learning and ensuring ownership of approach and the process thus contributing towards sustainability.
